The Canadian Silver Maple Leaf series dates back to 1988 and has spent most of that time as one of the world’s most popular silver bullion coins. Queen Elizabeth II’s portrait by Susanna Blunt, long a fixture of Canadian coinage, features on the obverse. Although she wears earrings and a necklace, the monarch lacks a crown or tiara, with which she is shown on the coinage of other countries and territories. “ELIZABETH II” and “5 DOLLARS 2019″ are inscribed above and below the effigy, respectively. The reverse features the incuse execution of the famous Maple Leaf design that has featured on Canadian gold and silver coinage for decades. Each element of the leaf is brought to life in fine detail. The name of the issuing country, “CANADA, ” arches over it, and the coin’s purity, “9999, ” is noted to the leaf’s right and left.
