It’s the first in the new series, it has a low mintage of 10,000, it’s a colored silver coin, it’s 1/2 an ounce of silver and it features iconic Canadian mallard ducks! The way the center of the coin splashes out onto the border of the coin is awesome! Easily one of the best looking coins of the year! Yes, I would recommend this to a friend. Was this review helpful? Education Oriented, Parent of Two or More Children. I don’t collect coins, but this one I will keep for sure! Nice start to a series! I have been a collector for many years and a member of Ducks Unlimited and when I seen this set come out I had to have it! It sure is a pretty coin. Collector, Grandparent, Parent of Two or More Children, Working Parent. This coin is beautifully made and very eye-catching. I hope I can get the series, but “awaiting stock” is rarely a good sign for desirable coins. The colorful design attracts my attention. A pretty colored silver coin to start with. Looking forward for the other 2 coins to be issued. Should sell all 3 coins together now in a high quality display box (see through from top). GREAT FOR THE NATURE LOVER AND THE COLLECTOR. A must have for the avid collector. Fine Silver Coin – Ducks of Canada: Wood Duck – Mintage: 10000 (2013). Reviewed by 7 customers. Education Oriented, Grandparent, Parent of Two or More Children, Working Parent. Will maintain its value and beauty. Lee the coin guy. The coloring and detail on the coin is really nice. Mint did an exceptional job on this coin! This coin has definitely met my expectations, it exhibits beautiful and accurate coloring on the pair of Wood Ducks with nice detail. With the recent drop in silver prices, I wish the RCM would have issued these “Duck” coins in a larger diameter coin, possibly even a 1 1/2 oz version that would really hit the mark. Other than that, it’s a nice example and overall well done by the mint. Really a beautiful coin. I can’t wait for the pintail. Wow wildlife in your hand!! Details and colors are great, good job rcm. Unfortunately, i’ll have to admire this coin in the picture. After being shut out of the original subscription, i was lucky enough to get the Mallard. Checked website everday for months awaiting this coin. Went to site immediately to order only to find they are “awaiting stock”. I’m not so naive enough to know this is the mints way of saying your out of luck. Reviewed this the day of issue but Mint neglected to post – i guess they’re only interested in positive reaction. Second coin of the popular duck series at a little premium price. Both this and the 25-cent partner new coins are more attractive than the first one. The mint has listened to the public and beautful coins keep coming out. Just hope the mint did not forget their commitment to issue all other pretty series, not just the popular one. This is from my personal collection which I ordered directly from Royal Canadian Mint in 2014. Please feel free to make an offer and we might strike a deal! Printed in Toronto at the Stinehour Press in 1970. Edition limited to 350 copies. An important piece of research work which documents 39 silversmiths who were forced to flee the Colonies during and after the American Revolution because they were Loyalists. These craftsmen settled in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Ontario and built new lives for themselves. Langdon begins by discussing not only silversmiths but also other craftsmen who were forced to flee the American colonies and resettle in Canada, and then offers full biographies of the 39 silversmiths. The superb text carefully documents these individuals, using both printed and manuscript records; the text is fully footnoted. The Canadian Encyclopedia notes- The main waves of Loyalists came to what is now Canada in 1783 and 1784. The Loyalists supported Britain for highly diverse reasons. Many evinced a personal loyalty to the Crown or a fear that revolution could bring chaos to America. Many agreed with the rebels that America had suffered wrongs at the hands of Britain, but believed the solution could be worked out within the empire. Loyalists were instrumental in establishing educational, religious, social and governmental institutions. Though greatly outnumbered by later immigrants, Loyalists and their descendants, exerted a strong and lasting influence. 6.5″x10″, 82 pages; a finely printed book with marbled endpapers -an elegant volume. Since its creation in 1972, more than 4,700 men and women of the Canadian Forces have been appointed to the Order of Military Merit. The mintage is limited to 5,500. Designed by Bruce W. The insignia of the Order of Military Merit has been proudly struck by the Royal Canadian Mint since 2012. The reverse of this fine silver coin presents a near-faithful re-creation of the insignia bestowed upon those appointed to the highest rank of membership: Commander of the Order of Military Merit C. Blue translucent colour re-creates the rich colour of the straight-end cross patée, with its four arms narrowing at the center. Surmounted by a colourful St. Edward’s Crown, a red annulus bears the inscription MERIT. , whose yellow colour mimics the gold of the original insignia. At its center, the red maple leaf helps distinguish the insignia of Commander from that of Officer or Member, which would feature a gold and silver maple leaf (respectively). The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Susanna Blunt. Founded on July 1, 1972, the Order of Military Merit recognizes distinctive merit and exceptional service displayed by the men and women of the Canadian Forces, both Regular and Reserve. Many have demonstrated dedication and devotion beyond the call of duty, and the Order honours them for their commitment to Canada. Queen Elizabeth II’s Coronation. I have in sincerity pledged myself to your service, as so many of you are pledged to mine. Throughout all my life and with all my heart I shall strive to be worthy of your trust. A speech by Queen Elizabeth II on her coronation day, July 2, 1953. It was the moment when, in a ceremony steeped in history, a young queen was formally invested with regalia, anointed and crowned, becoming the first monarch to be crowned Queen of Canada. Depicted on this 5 oz. Fine silver tribute, the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II was a ceremony laden with centuries of tradition, but the event also marked the dawn of a new, modern era for our young nation and for its 27-year-old queen. Few who witnessed the coronation on July 2, 1953, could have predicted the advancements that would be achieved during Queen Elizabeth II’s unprecedented long reign. Having already vowed to devote her life to serving others in 1947, Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation oath further bound her to a lifetime of service, duty and devotion to her people: the things which I have here before promised, I will perform and keep. Held at Westminster Abbey, the coronation was the first of its kind to be broadcast live on television-a defining moment for a medium still in its infancy. As part of a coordinated effort dubbed “Operation Pony Express, ” the coronation was filmed and the footage was flown from London (United Kingdom) to Goose Bay, Newfoundland; the film canisters were then transferred to a Canadian CF-100 fighter plane bound for Montreal, where the new studio would broadcast the event just a few hours after they had taken place in London. On the coin’s reverse, Queen Elizabeth II holds the Sovereign’s Sceptre with Cross, or the “rod of Equity and Mercy, ” which serves as a symbol of good governance. It is one of two sceptres used during a coronation-the other is the Sovereign’s Sceptre with Dove. Commissioned in 1661, the sceptre was altered in 1910 in order to receive the world’s largest colourless cut diamond, the Cullinan I. Also on the coin’s reverse, the Sovereign’s Orb is a representation of the Christian world. The hollow gold sphere is mounted with pearls, emeralds, rubies, sapphires, rose-cut diamonds and one amethyst. Just like the Sovereign’s Sceptre with Cross, the Orb was created for the coronation of King Charles II in 1661. The reverse design features a depiction of Queen Elizabeth II seated in the Gold State Coach on the day of her coronation on June 2, 1953. Clad in her coronation dress and robe, the newly crowned Queen of Canada is wearing the Imperial State Crown, and holds the Sovereign’s Orb and Sceptre with Cross in each hand. The reverse design peers into the past and into the Gold State Coach for a view of the newly crowned Queen of Canada. The depiction includes coronation regalia such as the Sovereign’s Orb and Sceptre-ceremonial objects not typically featured on Canada’s coins. Marked by a small Tudor rose, the tribute obverse combines the four different effigies that have graced Canadian coins since Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation in 1953. This obverse is only featured on the numismatic coins in the Queen Elizabeth II’s Reign collection. A nation remembers. Every numismatic coin in the Queen Elizabeth II’s Reign collection comes packaged with a special beauty box. A rare keepsake. Mintage is limited to just 1,750 coins worldwide. Packaging: The coin comes encapsulated and housed in a clamshell case. Packaged in a commemorative Queen Elizabeth II’s Reign beauty box. THIS ITEM IS GST / HST EXEMPT.
