The distinctive image of a maple leaf has been Canada’s identifying image since the 1700s. Standing front and center on the Canadian flag since 1965, it signifies pride, connection and community. The maple leaf is also the namesake of the country’s signature silver bullion coin. Since its introduction in 1988, the Silver Maple Leaf has become one of the world’s most iconic and instantly recognizable coins. In 2023, to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the Maple Leaf the Royal Canadian Mint has issued a spectacular, 5 coin fractional silver set! This set includes 5 coins, each struck from. Each of the 5 Maple Leafs in the set has a beautiful Reverse Proof Finish. The reverse, designed by Marie Elaine Cusson depicts a classical styled portrait of a red maple (Acer rubrum) leaf. The double date inscriptions “1988″ and “2023″ also adorn the reverse commemorating the 35th anniversary of the first Silver Maple Leaf. Other inscriptions on the reverse include “CANADA”, “9999″, “FINE SILVER”, “ARGENT PUR”, the initials “MC” and the coins weight.
