In 1917, Torontonians welcomed an exciting new reason to embrace winterthe NHL and the franchise that would become the Toronto Maple Leafs® were born. For generations, people had been taking to the ice as soon as the water froze. It was a rite of passage for every parent and child. From sons who skated and cheered alongside Dad, to young women who challenged tradition by yielding hockey sticks, the Toronto Maple Leafs® would spark dreams of greatness far and wide. This coin embodies the enduring spirit of Leafs Nationa passion that united people on and off the ice, and inspired young and old alike to carve fond memories on winter ice. Hockey players past and present come together in this dynamic design by Canadian artist Steven Rosati. A modern hockey player skates across the centre of the design towards the Leafs current logo that has been beautifully enhanced with enamel in the Leafs official blue, while a second player assumes a defensive stance behind him, his bygone era reflected in his equipment and the absence of a helmet. The teams centennial year is celebrated in the double-date at the top of the design, and in the ring of 100 dots that frames the design; one dot leaving a gap as it doubles as the hockey puck being stick-handled by the player. An original, beautifully crafted keepsake to cherish happy memories of times spent on and off the ice with family and friends. Pure silver (99.99% pure). I do leave feedback for everyone. All of the coins offered in this listing are unsearched. Many coin dealers search all coins when they are received from the Mint. They “cherry-pick” the best coins. Then submit them to be graded, certified, and slabbed by PCGS, NGC, ANACS, etc. When a dealer searches coins, those that they sell in original Mint packaging are only lesser quality coins. Photos: When a listing offers multiples of the same coin, one coin is picked at random and photographed. Since all coins offered in that listing are essentially identical, the coin photographed is representative of all coins offered. These photos were taken through the plastic coin capsules. On the outside surface of the capsules doesnt affect the coins. Surface areas that appear black on some proof coin photos are actually highly polished, mirror-bright metal reflecting the color of the camera. We place the coin at an angle, in some photos, to better depict the mirror bright finishes. However, angling the coin usually results in one side of the coin being slightly out of focus. Whenever possible, we use actual photos of our coins, rather than just artists conception drawings from the Mint. We frequently update and upgrade the photos that appear with our listings, using improved cameras and lenses and better lighting. We will honor your requests for additional photos as quickly as our schedule permits.
