2023 Canada $20 Ultra High Relief Maple Leaf 1oz. 9999 Silver Gold Reverse Proof
Pure Silver Coin, 1 oz. 9999 fine silver with yellow gold plating, reverse proof finish, struck by the Royal Canadian Mint. The reverse, designed by Walter Ott, marks the Silver Maple Leaf series’ 35th anniversary with the maple leaf struck in ultra high relief, rising to a 1.4 mm peak – a return to the ultra high relief technique first used on the 2022 issue. Selective yellow gold plating highlights the raised leaf, the rim on both sides of the coin, and the effigy, standing out against the coin’s frosted reverse proof field. The obverse carries Susanna Blunt’s effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, marked with four pearls representing the four effigies to have appeared on Canadian coinage and the double dates of her reign. Mintage was capped at 8,000 worldwide, and the issue is now archived at the Royal Canadian Mint. Metal: 1 oz (31.39 g). 9999 fine silver with yellow gold plating. Diameter: 36.15 mm. The design features a raised ultra-high relief sugar maple leaf set against a “heart of the forest” pulsating field pattern that showcases Canada’s vast forests. By tilting the coin, a unique light play creates the illusion of an endless forest on a misty day, with tall conifers seemingly falling in and out of view. Both sides are further enhanced with selective rose gold plating. The coin’s obverse includes the forest as a subtle field pattern and features the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III by Canadian artist Steven Rosati. Mintage is limited to just 8,500 coins.
