2007 Canada $250 1 Kilo Pure Silver Coin Early Canada Olympics
Along with the Fine Gold Kilo Coin, these unprecedented coins feature two designs that portray the story of Early Canada (2007) and Towards Confederation (2008), each masterpiece executed in both of these fine metals. This coin depicts Canada’s diverse Native heritage surrounded by a wreath of maple leaves, the internationally renowned symbol of Canada. Only 2,500 Fine Silver Kilo coins were minted available worldwide. The story behind the design of this masterpiece Canada\’s diverse and abundant wildlife play the central role in the coin’s design: a grizzly bear with a salmon in its mouth to represent the west coast, a plains bison for the prairies, a moose and a beaver for the central and eastern regions and a wolf and caribou for the north. The First Peoples are represented in this design, both as individuals and through their distinctive building forms which were influenced by the geography, climate and the available building materials: the totem pole is found on the left side of the coin and represents the West Coast, the tipi is placed centrally in the design to represent the prairies, the wigwam is placed to the right side of the coin to represent Eastern Canada, and the Inukshuk of the North is placed near the top of the design. This coin design also displays Canada’s rugged geography. The left side of the coin represents the West Coast with both ocean and mountains, while centrally the design conveys both Prairies and inland waters. To the right side of the coin is the rugged East Coast Ocean, which then transforms into the barren lands of the North. Coin comes encapsulated with black beauty box and custom outer sleeve. 2009 Canada $20 Fine Silver Coin 475th Ann. Of Jacques Cartier’s Arrival
Of Jacques Cartier’s Arrival. These were the voyages reserved for the privileged few; to sail across unknown seas to discover new, uncharted lands. Commissioned by kings, led by the learned and fueled by the brawn and courage of seafaring men, wooden vessels strikingly small and primitive compared to transportation modes of today, challenged the open seas in search of fortune and fame. In 1534, Francois I commissioned Jacques Cartier to go to the New World to find gold and a passage to Asia; an expedition that was destined to write a milestone chapter in Canadian history. Cartier was not the first. Others had come before, including Breton and Basque fishermen who were already frequenting the Gulf of St. Lawrence where Cartier was headed. But unlike his predecessors, Cartier engaged First Nations people extensively in trade, his journals providing the first detailed accounts of early encounters between these two vastly different worlds. During his travels, Cartier interacted with the Micmac, Stadacona and Iroquois people. They were captivated by the knives, beads, combs and other iron goods the explorer traded, and the sheer size and seeming luxury of his floating fortresses must have left a powerful impression on the people Cartier welcomed aboard. Indeed, it was Cartier’s voyage of 1534 that brought the first Iroquoian men across the Atlantic Ocean to experience the wonders of France first hand. Packaging: Coin is encapsulated and presented in a maroon clamshell case lined with flock and protected by a black sleeve. THIS ITEM IS GST / HST EXEMPT. 2019′Canadian Maples’ Proof $100 Silver Coin 10oz. 9999 Fine (18717) (NT)
Pure Silver Coin – Canadian Maples – Mintage: 500 (2019). It is one of Canada’s classic coin designs, and it is the inspiration for your soon-to-be classic collector piece that has a decidedly traditional feel. Our modern-day tribute has replaced the Victorian boughs with a wreath of different maple leaves-one from each of the 10 species that are native to Canada. These are also the leaves that inspired the Dominion Sculptor’s motifs for the new interim Senate chamber in Ottawa, where they add a touch of Canada’s natural heritage to glass panels, wood doors, and wall panels. All of Canada’s maples are together on this sculpted tribute to a classic design! A MODERN PIECE WITH A TRADITIONAL FEEL! Your pure silver coin features a more traditional take on Canada’s different maple leaves, as designed by the Dominion Sculptor of Canada. A NOD TO CANADA’S EARLY COIN DESIGNS! DESIGNED BY PARLIAMENT HILL’S MASTER CARVER! The focus of your coin is on the sculpting, and with good reason: your coin was designed by Dominion Sculptor Phil White, Canada’s master carver on Parliament Hill. There are no colour enhancements or special technology on your coin-this piece is all about world-class sculpting, with well-defined lines and a crisp impression against an expert proof finish. OUR FIRST COIN TO FEATURE ALL 10 CANADIAN MAPLES! Each leaf represents one of 10 maple species that are native to Canada-from the towering bigleaf maple to the shrub-like vine maple. Previous coins have featured one or several species, but this is the first coin to feature all 10 together in one design. Only 500 coins will be made worldwide. The Royal Canadian Mint certifies all of its collector coins. The maple-themed arrangement features one leaf from each of Canada’s 10 native Acer species, which are (clockwise from top right): the bigleaf maple A. Macrophyllum, striped maple A. Pensylvanicum, Manitoba maple A. Negundo, Douglas maple A. Glabrum, mountain maple A. Spicatum, sugar maple A. Saccharum, vine maple A. Circinatum, red maple A. Rubrum, black maple A. Nigrum and silver maple A. Also engraved on the reverse are the face value’100 DOLLARS’, the word’CANADA’, and the year’2019′. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt. As Dominion Sculptor, Philip White is responsible for the conservation and creation of sculptures and artwork that adorn Canada’s Parliamentary Buildings in Ottawa, Ontario. The iconic Centre Block building was purposely left unfinished, even after the Peace Tower was inaugurated in 1927, with thousands of uncarved stone blocks that have since allowed sculptors to tell Canada’s story as it unfolds. Wyon’s crossed maple bough design made its debut on the Province of Canada’s coins in 1858, when the decimal system was first introduced. Although it preceded Confederation by nearly a decade, it was prominently featured on the first coins struck for the Dominion of Canada in 1870. Different variations of the design continued to appear on Canada’s silver denominations (5, 10, 25 and 50 cents), but it was superseded by new designs in 1937. Your coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded maroon clamshell with a black beauty box. Composition 99.99% pure silver. Weight (g) 311.54. Diameter (mm) 76.25. Face value 100 dollars. Artist Philip White (reverse), Susanna Blunt (obverse).
