The powerful Water Dragon symbolizes the flow of good fortune. A powerful rain deity, Panlong (“coiled dragon”) is restricted to rivers, lakes and oceans, where the Water Dragon’s fluid movements reflect the natural rhythms of its aquatic domain. Designed by artist Simon Ng, the coin’s reverse depicts Panlong, the auspicious water dragon of Chinese mythology, as a vibrant and powerful creature writhing in a tumultuous sea, where its tail is raised high above the crashing waves. Flowing movements are emphasized throughout the design, from the tail fins that flow like banners in a heavy wind, to the mane that resembles seaweed swaying in the current.
