Canada Big Coin Series 50 cents 5 oz. Pure Silver Coloured Coin

Canada Big Coin Series 50 cents 5 oz. Pure Silver Coloured Coin

Big Coin Series: 50-Cent Coin WAS 519.95 NO CONTRACTUAL. The Canadian 50-cent coin uniquely reflects the intriguing history of Canada’s evolution from British colony to independent nation. Appearing in various forms on the reverse of the Canadian 50-cent coin since 1937, the Canadian Coat of Arms references both Canada’s colonial roots and its political and cultural status as a sovereign state. In fact, many people, upon receiving this low-circulation coin, might slip it into their pocket to save, attributing to it a worth higher than its face value because of its relative rarity. Since 1937, the 50-cent coin has borne on its reverse the Canadian Coat of Arms. The original 1937 design by British artist G. Kruger-Gray was replaced in 1959 with an image by Royal Canadian Mint engraver Thomas Shingles that reflected contemporary changes to the Arms itself. Specifications Mintage 1500 Composition 99.99% pure silver Finish proof Weight (g) 157.6 Diameter (mm) 65.25 Edge serrated Certificate serialized Face value 50 cents Artist Thomas Shingles (reverse), Susanna Blunt (obverse). 2019 Billy Bishop (1894-1956) $20 1 OZ Proof Pure Silver Coloured Coin Canada

Store Category: World Wars. Fighter planes were all-new during the First World War. In March 1917, a young pilot who would become Canadas top flying ace took to the air. Billy Bishop, born on February 8, 1894 in Owen Sound (Ontario), was 23 years old when he downed his first German plane on his first mission. By the end of the War, he had 72 victories to his credit, ranking only third behind the 80 claimed by Manfred von Richthofen, Germanys legendary Red Baron. Collect our first-ever coin featuring Billy Bishop! This is our first coin to honour Billy Bishop, Canadas famous flying ace of the First World War. TRUE CANADIAN WARTIME MEMORABILIA! Your coin features archival photographs that have been meticulously reproduced as intricate engravings and a beautiful colour portraitan innovative combination of two technologies. Your coin features the plane that Billy Bishop flew on his historic solo raid of June 2, 1917 (a Nieuport 17 that he affectionately called Little Daisy). THE DAWN OF THE AVIATION AGE! This stunning tribute to a pilot and his plane embodies all the excitement at the dawn of the aviation age, its revolutionizing impact on military warfare, and the daring young men who made it possible. A GREAT CANADIAN WAR HERO! Your coin is a must-have keepsake of a great Canadian war hero and the first Air Force recipient of the Victoria Cross! The Royal Canadian Mint certifies all of its collector coins. Your coin is crafted from one ounce of 99.99% pure silver. Your coin features Billy Bishop standing with his first plane, a Nieuport 17 that he affectionately called Little Daisy. Royal Canadian Mint engravers reproduced archival photographs to create this design. The effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt with 20 DOLLARS and ELIZABETH II D. REGINA engraved along the outer edge of the coin is featured on your coins obverse. Billy Bishops best-known feat is his daring solo raid of June 2, 1917. He destroyed three German planes and sent a fourth one into retreata victory that earned him the first Victoria Cross to ever be awarded to the Air Force. Fighter planes of the First World War were built of canvas and wood. Top speeds were 160 KPH. It was a major achievement to fly 16 km into enemy territory. There were no parachutes on board. If a plane caught fire, it was unlikely the pilot would survive. Billy Bishop perfected the game of chicken. He would fly straight at his enemy and refuse to move. Then, at the last possible moment, he would send a shower of bullets into the enemys engine before swerving out of the way. In his book, Winged Warfare, Billy Bishop wrote, It was the mud, I think, that made me take to flying. After arriving in France, the author found himself up to his knees in mud on a stormy July day. When a plane landed and took off nearby, I knew there was only one place to be on such a dayup above the clouds in the summer sunshine. Billy Bishops contributions continued through the Second World War. As an Honorary Air Marshal he played a key role in recruiting for the Royal Canadian Air Force and drew worldwide attention to the RCAF and to the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan. Your coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded maroon clamshell with a black beauty box. 99.99% pure silver. (reverse), Susanna Blunt (obverse). 2019 Remembrance Day $10 Pure Silver Coloured Poppy-Shaped Coin Canada

2019 Remembrance Day $10 Pure Silver Coloured Poppy-Shaped Coin Canada

For nearly a century, the delicate poppy has symbolized the fallen soldier. Within a single flower are four petals or more – each illustrating how a soldier never falls alone. Behind every fallen soldier is a mother, a father, siblings, relatives and friends left behind. One hundred years after the signing of the Treaty of Versailles, the poppy continues to be an enduring icon, reminding us of not only the fallen from the First World War, but of all wars. This first-ever poppy-shaped coin is a poignant reminder of the cost of war, the fragility of peace, and the enduring hope of those who step forward to serve. A heartfelt Remembrance Day memento treasured by anyone who has served. Order your coin today. NEW COIN SHAPE: This first-ever poppy-shaped coin takes Canada’s annual remembrance to new heights. Its tactile, four-petal contours are unprecedented, making this coin a must-have collectible in its own right. SHOWSTOPPING COLOUR: We’ve never applied colour in this way. It’s an innovative twist to a traditional technique that captures the poppy’s layered and airy feel in a way that has not been seen on previous poppy coins. A TIMELESS TRIBUTEFOR ALL: As the world marks the 100th anniversary of the Treaty of Versailles, the symbolism of the poppy extends far beyond the First World War. This poppy-shaped coin is a heartfelt memento that will be treasured by anyone who has ever served. Show and share your gratitude and respect for your personal hero with this memorable, one-of-a-kind keepsake. A MODERN AESTHETIC FOR THE HISTORIC POPPY: This coin’s unique four-petal shape, re-imagined design, and innovative use of colour gives the poppy a fresh new look that will appeal to younger generations eager to learn and honour Canada’s rich military past. PURE SILVER: Your coin is crafted from 99.99% pure silver. This multi-layered poppy illustration by Canadian artist Jamie Desrochers features four indentations along the circumference, providing the framework for the poppy’s four petals. Repeating graphic shapes, intersecting lines, and the innovative use of colour and engraving create the illusion of endless petals. The flower’s pistil appears as the centre of the design in black, and the word. Is engraved along the outer edge of the bottom petal. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt at the centre of the coin, with. Engraved along the outer edge of three petals. The First World War is the bloodiest war Canada has ever fought. It claimed over 60,000 lives. Ypres (1915), the Somme (1916), Vimy Ridge (1917) and Passchendaele (1917) are just a few of the battles where Canadian and Newfoundlander soldiers distinguished themselves. Their courage earned the Allies’ respect and raised Canada’s presence on the world stage. In 1914, Newfoundlanders rushed to enlist, leading to a shortage of khaki uniforms; some donned blue-coloured leggings, which earned the 1st Newfoundland Regiment its nickname as The Blue Puttees. For Newfoundland, the tragic memory of her fallen sons during the Battle of Beaumont-Hamel endures in the generations that have followed every July1st. They solemnly regard that day as a symbol of unity, courage and tremendous sacrifice. Your coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded clamshell with a black beauty box. 99.99% pure silver. Jamie Desrochers (reverse), Susanna Blunt (obverse).
