Along with medals and a number of significant war memorials, he designed some of Canada’s most distinctive and iconic coins. In 1934 the Department of Finance invited Emanuel Hahn to submit a design for a silver dollar commemorating the silver jubilee of the reign of King George V. Hahn corresponded with the Royal Mint in London and the Royal Canadian Mint to gain insight into the process of minting a coin before submitting a drawing depicting a voyageur and a First Nations man. Note may be made of the fact that the head of His Majesty is crowned. It was debated before the time of issue as to whether it should be crowned or uncrowned and a decision was finally made in favor of the former. The 1935 dollars were given special care in that they were counted by hand and packed in cartons of 20 each to avoid friction in transit. Here’s an absolutely beautiful Collector/Investor collection. In this coin storage book, on page 1 there are 12 X 1963 silver dollars. Page 2 has 12 X 1964′s, page 3 has 12 X 1965′s and finally on the fourth page are 12 X 1966 for a total of 48 early to mid 1960′s silver dollars. ALL have mirrored finishes, and are a mix of Uncirculated and Proof-Like dollars. 7 of them were just removed from the original Mint PL packaging to create this book collection!
