Inspired by gardens across Canada, your coin design pays tribute to nature’s beauty and the artistic endeavours of Canadian gardeners. At first glance, there’s a prevailing sense of enchantment and mystery thanks to the filigree gate that stretches across the reverse. Fashioned from white bronze and inspired by an 18th century design, the filigree garden gate by Canadian artist Margaret Best has an intricate, almost delicate appearance that belies its resilience. The coin’s large diameter (50 mm) allows a breathtaking mix of colour-over-engraved details behind the gate, as the eyes wander down the stone pathway leading to the cottage. Designed by Canadian artist Tony Bianco, this magical summer garden brings together some perennial garden favourites in Canada: a climbing rose, hydrangea, phlox, bee balm, salvia and rudbeckia. All are depicted in full bloom, which heightens the larger-than-life quality of this picture-perfect setting. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.

Marked by curving pathways and flowerbeds filled with colourful favourites, the magnificent Halifax Public Gardens holds the distinction of being one of the few surviving Victorian gardens in Canada. Its main gates inspired the white bronze gate on the coin, where the same elaborate scrollwork sets a beautiful boundary between our world and the depiction of the bandstand that is at the heart of this Haligonian oasis. SECOND COIN IN SERIES! First coin Gate to Enchanted Garden still available, order today! A WORLD OF BEAUTY! Celebrate the beauty of Canada’s gardens! This dimensional design combines two of the most well-known (and beloved) features of the Halifax Public Gardens: its main gate, and the bandstand that is at the centre of this public space. Fashioned from white bronze, the gate on the reverse captures the elaborate, antique artistry of the Gardens’ often-photographed wrought iron gates! Extensive research and development were necessary to determine just the right amount of metal to achieve the gate’s intricate appearance without sacrificing durability-and without obscuring your view of the garden behind it! Adding to the authenticity of it all, the gate on the reverse is carefully painted to give it an appropriately aged look-like metalwork that has been exposed to time and the elements. The Royal Canadian Mint certifies all of its collector coins. 2 OUNCE 99.99% PURE SILVER COIN! Your coin is GST/HST exempt! LOW MINTAGE: Only 5,500 coins will be made worldwide. Designed by Canadian artist Margaret Best, your coin features a world of carefully cultivated beauty beyond the gate that stretches from rim to rim. This ornamental gate closely resembles the main gates of the Halifax Public Gardens, whose ornate scrollwork has been carefully adapted to retain its century-old aesthetic on a smaller scale, without sacrificing the element’s durability. Paint gives the metalwork an appropriately weathered look; behind it, a full colour image invites the viewer to let their eyes and imagination wander towards the colourful flowerbeds, shrubs and trees, or the often-photographed bandstand that is at the very heart of this National Historic Site of Canada. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
The rich diversity of life in the Arctic, Pacific and Atlantic Oceans are an important part of Canada’s maritime heritage. Designed by Canadian artist Tony Bianco, the reverse image peers into the waters off Canada’s northern coast for a glimpse of an iconic marine species. The engraved word “Canada” hangs above a rugged mountain peak, which rises up from the snow and ice-covered shores of the Arctic Ocean. Sweeping over the increasingly shallow water, the breaking swell adds a sense of movement to the design; the motion of the water’s surface also marks a dynamic transition to the underwater realm, where detailed engraving recreates the rock-lined ocean floor. The selective use of gold plating shines the spotlight on three engraved whales: an adult beluga on the left is shown in side profile as it curiously lifts its head above the water, and another lifts its flukes above water while releasing a stream of underwater bubbles from its blowhole, while its curved descent is mimicked by the calf at its side. Mintage: 7,500. Diameter: 38 mm. Weight: 1 oz.
