2018 Frozen in Ice Woolly Mammoth 1 OZ $20 Proof Pure Silver Coin Canada
For millennia, herds of enormous woolly mammoth roamed the frozen landscapes of North America. Covered in insulating moisture-resistant hair that could measure up to a metre in length, adult mammoths weighed up to 8,000 kilograms and grew to more than three metres in height. They used their massive tusks to fend off predators and to dig in the snow and gather food. Though their key predators were the various large cats and wolves that populated the continentand even then, only when the mammoth were young enough to fellhuman hunters proved perhaps the deadliest of all for the mammoth and are believed to have eradicated them in a number of regions. The last mammoth population, on Russias Wrangel Island in the Arctic Ocean, died out around 2000 BC. History doesnt get much cooler than your frozen Woolly Mammoth coin! Regardless of special packaging, the Royal Canadian Mint certifies all of its collector coins! 99.99% PURE SILVER! Your coin is GST/HST exempt! Only 5,000 coins will be made worldwidebuy today! Designed by Canadian artist Glen Loates, your coin portrays a snowy Ice Age landscape with a herd of mammoth traversing a frozen plain. The image centres on a single mammoth who faces the viewer, its massive tusks rising high into the sky. The image is overlain with a frosted ice like dome. The portion of the portrait under the ice is coloured, while the remainder of the image is struck-only. The reverse includes the text CANADA and the date 2018. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt, as well as the coin value of 20 DOLLARS. The mammoth thrived throughout the Pleistocene Era, a period of successive glaciations throughout the Northern Hemisphere that featured a significant drop in global temperatures. Mammoths are one of the most common and well-preserved species uncovered from the Ice Age, making them one of the best known mammals of the Pleistocene. Mammoths are believed to have lived, on average, between 60 and 80 years. Ever wonder why mammoths looks so similar to, yet different from, elephants? The mammoths adaptations for cold environmentsand the elephants adaptations for heatmake the two surprisingly different. Besides their shaggy fur and mouth specially structured for grazing on tough grasses, the mammoths ears were significantly smaller than those of the elephant, whose large ears are an important thermoregulator. Your coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded maroon clamshell with a black beauty box. 99.99% pure silver. Glen Loates (reverse), Susanna Blunt (obverse). Its popularity with French Canadians continued and was reinforced when, at the inaugural meeting of the Société Saint-Jean-Baptiste in 1834, the maple leaf was one of numerous emblems proposed to represent the society. It is a rare, silvery-white, hard, and chemically inert transition metal. It is a member of the platinum group. It has only one naturally occurring isotope, 103Rh. Naturally occurring rhodium is usually found as the free metal, alloyed with similar metals, and rarely as a chemical compound in minerals such as bowieite and rhodplumsite. It is one of the rarest and most valuable precious metals. Rhodium is a noble metal, resistant to corrosion, found in platinum- or nickel ores together with the other members of the platinum group metals. It was discovered in 1803 by William Hyde Wollaston in one such ore, and named for the rose color of one of its chlorine compounds, produced after it reacted with the powerful acid mixture aqua regia. The element’s major use (approximately 80% of world rhodium production) is as one of the catalysts in the three-way catalytic converters in automobiles. Because rhodium metal is inert against corrosion and most aggressive chemicals, and because of its rarity, rhodium is usually alloyed with platinum or palladium and applied in high-temperature and corrosion-resistive coatings. White gold is often plated with a thin rhodium layer to improve its appearance while sterling silver is often rhodium-plated for tarnish resistance. Rhodium detectors are used in nuclear reactors to measure the neutron flux level. The item “FROZEN MAPLE LEAF Aurora Rhodium 1 Oz Silver Coin 5$ Canada 2016″ is in sale since Tuesday, April 17, 2018. 2017 1 Oz Silver DEEP FROZEN MAPLE LEAF, Ruthenium & Platinum Coin
The distinctive shape of the red maple leaf immediately says, Canada to people around the world. Its use as a symbol for all that is Canadian dates back centuries, but historians generally recognize 1836 as the year when the maple leaf earned its status as an official national emblem. The founding cultures had their fleur-de-lis (France), roses (England), thistles (Scotland) and shamrocks (Ireland). With the maple leaf, immigrants and native-born Canadians alike could express their pride in their promising new home. Throughout the 19th century, the maple leaf was quickly popularized in print and song. Provincial flags, shields and coats of arms seemed incomplete without it. From 1876 to 1901, the maple leaf was a fixture on virtually every Canadian circulation coin. It became the centrepiece of Canadas one-cent coin that has been in circulation since 1937.
