Its deeply etched veins are prominent while its pointed edges are slightly bent, evoking the shape of a fallen leaf coming to rest on an engraved bed of classically stylized maple leaves. Behind it, the use of frosted and proof finishes fill the field to re-create the bands of Canadas national flag, as a visual representation of soaring pride for this nations natural legacy. Maple Leaf The maple leaf is the characteristic leaf of the maple tree, and is the most widely recognized national symbol of Canada. At the beginning of the eighteenth century, the settlements located in New France had attained a population of about 18.000.
