MCM Picks: Memorial Day. The Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) has produced its Maple Leaf series exclusively at the Ottawa facility for more than four decades. In 2020, the RCM expanded the production of the series to include a special numismatic product from the Winnipeg Mint for the first time ever. That release featured a burnished finish and a “W” Mint mark. The 2021 Winnipeg Maple is minted with a new Tailored Specimen finish, which combines satin-like design elements with delicately engraved, angled lines in the fields. This 30 mm diameter 2021-W Maple Leaf coin contains 1 Troy oz. The graded coin includes the original Mint-issued Certificate of Authenticity. Mintage is limited to only 8,000 coins. Stunning Sugar Maple Leaf Imagery. Obverse: An image of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is located on the obverse. Inscribed “ELIZABETH II, ” “5 DOLLARS” and 2021. Canadian portrait artist Susanna Blunt sculpted the Queen’s coinage effigy in 2003. Reverse: A single, beautifully detailed maple leaf dominates the reverse, with the coin’s exciting “W” Mint mark beside the leaf’s stem.
