Proof Silver Football-Shaped coin? To celebrate the most iconic symbol in American sports, the Royal Canadian Mint (RCM), in partnership with ModernCoinMart (MCM), has struck the world’s first football-shaped coin! This exciting release provides an extremely realistic depiction of an American football on a 1 oz. 9999 fine silver domed coin. At 48mm x 30.33mm, this large coin is quite a bit smaller than a real pigskin, but with a limited mintage of only 8,500 coins this coin is quite the collectible! As is fitting with the world’s first football-shaped coin, the reverse was struck with a very realistic depiction of an American football. The leather texture of the ball, the wide bands at both ends, and the stitching along the top are all present with amazing accuracy. The inscription “25 DOLLARS” arcs across the top, and “2017″ curves along the bottom. The obverse of the coin shows Susanna Blunt’s effigy of Queen Elizabeth II that was first seen in 2003. This design is present in the center of the coin, with the inscriptions “CANADA, “”ELIZABETH II, ” and D. The leather texture of the ball is also present on this side. NGC graded Proof 69 Ultra Cameo Early Releases. One of the best-known third-party grading companies, the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), graded this coin Proof 69 Ultra Cameo.
