POLAR BEARS Mother and Cub 5 Oz Silver Coin 50$ Canada 2019
155.5 (5 oz). This beautiful 5 Oz Silver coin is dedicated to Canadian Arctic, home to some of the worlds most unique creatures, like the Polar Bears. The coin features an incredible design that resembles the glacial environment and comes in an elegant case, along with the Certificate of Authenticity. Limited mintage to 1.200 pcs worldwide. The reverse of the coin features the image by Tony Bianco and travels to the True North for a glimpse of the polar bear (Ursus maritimus) at play. The engraved scene is a touching portrait of a mother and cub swimming in the cold waters of the Canadian Arctic, their closeness reflected in the way they are positioned as they emerge from the icy depths. Textural engraving adds a sense of movement across the surface of the water, where the ebb and flow generated by the swimmers movements pushes the floating ice right to the coins edge. The theme continues onto the fully engraved edge, which mimics the look of jagged ice and gives the coin its unique shape. On top of the reverse, the inscription: CANADA the issuing country. On the bottom, the inscription: 2019 the year of issue. The obverse of the coin features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions: ELIZABETH II the name of the Queen, D·G·REGINA Dei Gratia Regina and 50 DOLLARS the face value. Polar bears sit at the top of the food chain in the biologically rich Arctic. The most carnivorous of the bear species, polar bears feed primarily on the fat of ice-dependent seals. The remains of these seals provide food for many other Arctic wildlife species, giving polar bears a vital role in their ecosystem. The long neck and narrow skull of the polar bear probably aid in streamlining the animal in the water while warming the air that they breathe, and their front feet are large, flat and oar-like, making them excellent swimmers.
