2017'Vimy Ridge-100th Anniversary' Prf 10oz $100 Silver Coin. 9999 Fine(18058)NT

Vimy: a defining moment for Canada. For the first time in history, the four divisions of the Canadian Corps came together and fought side-by-side as one, giving way to a surging sense of national identity on the battlefield and at home. This fine silver coin commemorates the centennial of a pivotal chapter in Canadas history, the Battle of Vimy Ridge, through this reproduction of a battle painting by Canadas first official war artist. The reverse features a highly detailed, magnificently engraved recreation of the large-sized oil painting The Taking of Vimy Ridge, Easter Monday, 1917. The coins large diameter (76 mm) is the perfect canvas for such a detailed reproduction of this unforgettable work by Canadas first official war artist, Richard Jack. By focusing on a Canadian battery, the design captures the intensity of the heavy shelling directed towards enemy positions on Vimy Ridge, which forms the raised horizon in the background. The crew of the 18-pounder field gun work tirelessly and in unison as they pass shells to keep up the barragea fitting depiction of Canadas troops coming together to fight as one. The obverse features the effigy of King George V by Sir Edward B. MacKennal, as used on Canadian coins in the First World War period. Commemorates the 100th anniversary of The Battle of Vimy Ridge, a key battle for Canadian forces during the First World War. Expertly engraved in 99.99% fine silver, this 10 oz coins reverse is an artistic ode to a pivotal chapter in Canadas 150-year history, one that remains a proud national symbol of achievement and sacrifice. The coins large diameter (76mm) makes it a fitting canvas for such a detailed reproduction of a famous painting by Canadas first official war artist. The use of multiple finishing techniques brings to light even the smallest engraved detail! In keeping with the historical theme, the obverse mimics that of all coins produced during the First World War period, with the effigy of King George V by Sir Edward B. Very low mintage set to just 750 coins worldwide makes this an exclusive and prestigious collecting opportunity! Canada 2009 $20 Silver coin 475th Anniv Jacques Cartier's Arrival Mint, 304/1,534

Certificate # 304 out of 1,534. Hese were the voyages reserved for the privileged few; to sail across unknown seas to discover new, uncharted lands. Commissioned by kings, led by the learned and fueled by the brawn and courage of seafaring men, wooden vessels strikingly small and primitive compared to transportation modes of today, challenged the open seas in search of fortune and fame. In 1534, Francois I commissioned Jacques Cartier to go to the New World to find gold and a passage to Asia; an expedition that was destined to write a milestone chapter in Canadian history. Cartier was not the first. Others had come before, including Breton and Basque fishermen who were already frequenting the Gulf of St. Lawrence where Cartier was headed. But unlike his predecessors, Cartier engaged First Nations people extensively in trade, his journals providing the first detailed accounts of early encounters between these two vastly different worlds. Cartier’s trusted ships brought his expedition along the Labrador coast in the Strait of Belle Isle, down the western shore of Newfoundland to Miramichi and Chaleur Bays, and back to the Gaspe coast. During his travels, Cartier interacted with the Micmac, Stadacona and Iroquois people. They were captivated by the knives, beads, combs and other iron goods the explorer traded, and the sheer size and seeming luxury of his floating fortresses must have left a powerful impression on the people Cartier welcomed aboard. Indeed, it was Cartier’s voyage of 1534 that brought the first Iroquoian men across the Atlantic Ocean to experience the wonders of France first hand.
