SMOKED SKULL Maple Leaf 1 Oz Silver Coin 5$ Canada 2018

This incredible 1 Oz Silver coin is the first release in the new Skull Maple Leaf series and features an incredible Smoked Skull over Canadas famous Maple Leaf. The coin is fully plated in Ruthenium, has a Gold plating, has a wonderful colouration and comes in a case, along with the Certificate of Authenticity. Strictly limited mintage to only 500 pieces worldwide! The reverse of the coin features the incredible coloured image of a Smoked Skull over the image of a gilded Maple Leaf. All around the reverse, the inscriptions: CANADA the issuing country, 9999 the fineness of the Silver, FINE SILVER, 1 OZ the weight of the coin and ARGENT PUR. The obverse of the coin features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions: ELIZABETH II the name of the Queen, 5 DOLLARS the face value and 2018 the year of issue. Maple Leaf The maple leaf is the characteristic leaf of the maple tree, and is the most widely recognized national symbol of Canada. At the beginning of the eighteenth century, the settlements located in New France had attained a population of about 18.000. By this time, the maple leaf had been adopted as an emblem by the French Canadians along the Saint Lawrence River. Its popularity with French Canadians continued and was reinforced when, at the inaugural meeting of the Société Saint-Jean-Baptiste in 1834, the maple leaf was one of numerous emblems proposed to represent the society. Speaking in its favour, Jacques Viger, the first mayor of Montreal, described the maple as the king of our forest… The symbol of the Canadian people. Canadian artist Alan Beddoe was tasked with revising the arms to reflect two elements preferred by Canadas new monarch, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II: the use of St. Edwards Crown in place of the Tudor crown and a change of leaf colour from green to red. Beddoes revision was recreated two years later for the half-dollar (which has traditionally featured Canadas coat of arms) by the Mints Master Engraver at the time, Thomas Shingles.
