99.99% Silver coin. Gorgeous 5 oz coin by the RCM. Everything is in great condition! The coin is double dated 1813 – 2013 on the reverse. This coin weighs 157.6 grams and is 65 mm in diameter. The obverse has the proof finish relief image of the Queen (by Susanna Blunt) against a mirror background. It comes encapsulated and set into its case and comes with all original packaging and certificate of authenticity just as it came from the mint. The outer black cardboard box surrounds the leather case. Total mintage for this coin was only 1,500. The embossed bilingual title celebrates HMS Shannon’s victory by listing its name first:’THE/Le SHANNON AND THE/et le CHESAPEAKE. The reverse side also features the dates’1813 -2013′ commemorating the bicentennial of HMS Shannon’s famous defeat of USS Chesapeake. The obverse features the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by artist Susanna Blunt.
