The reverse of the coin by Canadian artist Curtis Atwater presents the close-up portrait of a Wolf and features complex engraving that adds textural detail. Special emphasis is placed on the wolfs eyes, where an enamel effect mimics the glossy look of a traditional paint application, but with far more colour variances that give the amber-coloured eyes convey the wolfs intelligence and strength. They are further enhanced by glow-in-the-dark technology that adds a luminous intensity to the piercing gaze, which mimics the naturally luminous effect of the nocturnal hunters stare during a rare nighttime encounter. The obverse of the coin features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions: CANADA the issue country, 2017 the year of issue, D·G·REGINA Dei Gratia Regina, 15 DOLLARS the face value and ELIZABETH II the name of the Queen.
