2022′Queen Elizabeth II’s Royal Cypher’ $20 Fine Silver Coin(RCM 207694)(20637)

2022'Queen Elizabeth II's Royal Cypher' $20 Fine Silver Coin(RCM 207694)(20637)

Preserved for posterity: The symbol of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign in 99.99% pure silver. One of the most recognizable symbols of a historic reign, the Royal Cypher of Queen Elizabeth II was the monarch’s identifier, and most Canadians are used to seeing it imprinted in the insignia of orders, decorations, medals and badges. The personal device of Queen Elizabeth II was synonymous with the Crown and served as a symbol of Sovereignty in Canada for 70 years. It has been re-created and forever preserved on this black rhodium plated 99.99% pure silver tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, the keeper of continuity who also advanced the monarchy into the modern age. A solemn black rhodium-plated 99.99% pure silver tribute to Queen Elizabeth II. The symbol of a reign. Crafted in 1 oz. 99.99% pure silver, this collector’s item features Queen Elizabeth II’s Royal Cypher, one of the most recognizable symbols of a historic reign. The four largest shapes represent the different effigies that have appeared on Canadian coinage throughout the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. Every numismatic coin in the Queen Elizabeth II’s Reign collection comes packaged with a special beauty box. Mintage is limited to 15,000 coins worldwide. Homage to the crown. On your coin’s reverse, the royal cypher is framed by shapes resembling the gold beads and clusters of stones that adorn St. Edward’s Crown, the crown used at the moment of coronation. This is the crown that is depicted in Queen Elizabeth II’s cypher. Your coin is plated with black rhodium as a symbol of mourning. The only glimpse of silver is on the obverse, where the contrast between the silver effigies and the black rhodium plating keeps the focus on Queen Elizabeth II. Marked by a small Tudor rose, the tribute obverse combines the four different effigies that have graced Canadian coins since Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation in 1953. This obverse is only featured on the collector coins in the Queen Elizabeth II’s Reign collection. Composition 99.99% pure silver with selective black rhodium plating. Weight 31.39 g. Packaging Black clamshell with special graphic beauty box. Cyphers have been used by British monarchs since the reign of Henry VIII. For her cypher, Queen Elizabeth II favoured a stylized representation of St. Edward’s Crown-the official coronation crown dating from the coronation of King Charles II in 1661-over the Tudor Crown. Named after Saint Edward the Confessor, St. Edward’s Crown was made for the coronation of King Charles II in 1661 and continues to serve as the coronation crown. Its design is based on the original medieval crown that had been melted down by the Parliamentarians in 1649. Due to its hefty weight (2.23 kilograms), St. Edward’s Crown is traditionally carried (not worn) during the coronation procession and remains on the altar until the moment of coronation. Fully plated with black rhodium, the reverse features the Royal Cypher of Queen Elizabeth II, which combines her initials’E II’ (Elizabeth II) with her title initial’R’ (for Regina, or’Queen’ in Latin) and an image of St. The cypher is framed by shapes resembling the gold beads and clusters of stones that adorn St. Edward’s Crown; the four larger shapes represent the different effigies that have graced Canadian coinage since 1953.

ASW Reference: KM# 70 Certification: NGC. SP 67 2863302-008 ELIZABETH II D. G. REGINA, The portrait in right profile of Elizabeth II, when she was 39 years old. Canadian Confederation (French: Confédération canadienne) was the process by which the British colonies of Canada, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick were united into one Dominion of Canada on July 1, 1867. Upon confederation, the old province of Canada was divided into Ontario and Quebec; along with Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, the new federation thus comprised four provinces. Over the years since Confederation, Canada has seen numerous territorial changes and expansions, resulting in the current union of ten provinces and three territories. The Canada goose (Branta canadensis) is a large wild goose species with a black head and neck, white cheeks, white under its chin, and a brown body. Native to arctic and temperate regions of North America, its migration occasionally reaches northern Europe. It has been introduced to the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Argentina, Chile, and the Falkland Islands. Like most geese, the Canada goose is primarily herbivorous and normally migratory; it tends to be found on or close to fresh water. Extremely successful at living in human-altered areas, Canada geese have proven able to establish breeding colonies in urban and cultivated areas, which provide food and few natural predators. The success of this common park species has led to its often being considered a pest species because of their depredation of crops and their noise, droppings, aggressive territorial behavior, and habit of begging for food (caused by human hand feeding). Elizabeth II (Elizabeth Alexandra Mary; born 21 April 1926) is, and has been since her accession in 1952, Queen of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, and Head of the Commonwealth. She is also Queen of 12 countries that have become independent since her accession: Jamaica, Barbados, the Bahamas, Grenada, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Belize, Antigua and Barbuda, and Saint Kitts and Nevis. Elizabeth was born in London to the Duke and Duchess of York, later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, and was the elder of their two daughters. She was educated privately at home. Her father acceded to the throne on the abdication of his brother Edward VIII in 1936, from which time she was the heir presumptive. In 1947, she married Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, with whom she has four children: Charles, Anne, Andrew, and Edward. Elizabeth’s many historic visits and meetings include a state visit to the Republic of Ireland and reciprocal visits to and from the Pope. She has seen major constitutional changes, such as devolution in the United Kingdom, Canadian patriation, and the decolonisation of Africa. She has also reigned through various wars and conflicts involving many of her realms. She is the world’s oldest reigning monarch as well as Britain’s longest-lived. In 2015, she surpassed the reign of her great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria, to become the longest-reigning British monarch and the longest-reigning queen regnant in world history. Times of personal significance have included the births and marriages of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, her coronation in 1953, and the celebration of milestones such as her Silver, Golden and Diamond Jubilees in 1977, 2002, and 2012, respectively. Moments of sadness for her include the death of her father, aged 56; the assassination of Prince Philip’s uncle, Lord Mountbatten; the breakdown of her children’s marriages in 1992 (her annus horribilis); the death in 1997 of her son’s former wife, Diana, Princess of Wales; and the deaths of her mother and sister in 2002. Elizabeth has occasionally faced republican sentiments and severe press criticism of the royal family, but support for the monarchy and her personal popularity remain high. Canada is a country, consisting of ten provinces and t hree territories, in the northern part of the continent of North America. It extends from the Atlantic to the Pacific and northward into the Arctic Ocean, covering 9.98 million square kilometres (3.85 million square miles) in total, making it the world’s second-largest country by total area and the fourth-largest country by land area. Canada’s common border with the United States forms the world’s longest land border. Canada is sparsely populated overall, the majority of its land territory being dominated by forest and tundra as well as the mountain range of the Rocky Mountains; about four-fifths of the population live near to the southern border. The majority of Canada has a cold or severely cold winter climate, but southerly areas are warm in summer. The land now called Canada has been inhabited for millennia by various Aboriginal peoples. Beginning in the late 15th century, British and French colonies were established on the region’s Atlantic coast. As a consequence of various conflicts, the United Kingdom gained and lost North American territories until left, in the late 18th century, with what mostly comprises Canada today. Pursuant to the British North America Act, on July 1, 1867, three colonies joined to form the autonomous federal Dominion of Canada. This began an accretion of provinces and territories to the new self-governing Dominion. In 1931, Britain granted Canada near total independence with the Statute of Westminster 1931 and full sovereignty was attained when the Canada Act 1982 severed the vestiges of legal dependence on the British parliament. Canada is a federal parliamentary democracy and a constitutional monarchy, Queen Elizabeth II being the current head of state. The country is officially bilingual at the federal level. It is one of the world’s most ethnically diverse and multicultural nations, the product of large-scale immigration from many countries, with a population of approximately 35 million as of 2015. Its advanced economy is the eleventh largest in the world, relying chiefly upon its abundant natural resources and well-developed international trade networks. Canada’s long and complex relationship with the United States has had a significant impact on its economy and culture. Canada is a developed country and one of the wealthiest in the world, with the tenth highest nominal per capita income globally, and the eighth highest ranking in the Human Development Index. It ranks among the highest in international measurements of government transparency, civil liberties, quality of life, economic freedom, and education. Canada is a Commonwealth Realm member of the Commonwealth of Nations, a member of the Francophonie, and part of several major international and intergovernmental institutions or groupings including the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, the G8, the Group of Ten, the G20, the North American Free Trade Agreement and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum. With the creation of the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal (CVSM) in 1943, Canada became the first country in the Commonwealth to recognize voluntary service in the Second World War. The medal was crafted in. 925 silver and engraved by Master Engraver Thomas Shingles. The obverse by war artist Charles Fraser Comfort was based on photographs of seven marching members of Canada’s army, air force, navy and nursing service. At first, the medal was only awarded to members of Canada’s military forces and merchant navy who honorably completed 18 months total voluntary service from 3 September 1939 to1 March 1947. Eligibility was later expanded to include members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, as well as various civilian and military support organizations. A total of 650,000 medals were awarded. The Royal Canadian Mint has struck decorations, medals and other awards since the early 1930s. Its medals branchis practically a mint within a mint: it has its own separate presses and an award-winning team of engravers and engineers dedicated to creating the highest quality medals. All the medals for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games were struck at our Ottawa facility on Sussex Drive. Some of Canada’s most prestigious national honors are also struck in the same facility. For the Victory nickel, Shingles prepared the matrix entirely by hand – in fact, this was the first time master tooling was made in Canada. Designed by artist Emily Damstra, your coin’s reverse invites you to step into the boreal forest of Western Canada, where the grizzly bear (Ursus arctos horribilis) reigns supreme. The low perspective, combined with Ultra High Relief (UHR), emphasizes the grizzly bear’s imposing size and appearance. Standing on a rock outcrop or cliff and surrounded by towering conifers, the elusive grizzly has perceived a threat as it looks down from its perch, the bear has raised its paw as if to strike and has a fierce expression on its face. The obverse features a maple leaf pattern behind the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt. The obverse also bears a special marking that includes four pearls symbolizing the four effigies that have graced Canadian coins and the double date of her reign.
